Ugh. I'm sorry. I remember how miserable the mouth sores were, in fact, every part of my mouth was so *burned*.
My doc gave me viscous lidocaine. It was gross, but it helped. He also ordered something called Gel Clair http://www.gelclair.com/ he said that it's not always available in the US but fortunately it was at the time I needed it. Warning- it tastes like black licorice but I think it helped tremendously.
I don't know if they are both miracle treatments or if they were gross enough that I felt "healed" quickly LOL. Neither was pleasant but I remember not having to use them much.
Everything caused my mouth and tongue to burn. Chocolate, too. Even now I can't eat most chocolates-they burn.
I got peppermints that were not exactly a hard candy, more "chalky" and they kind of melted in my mouth. Those were very soothing. My husband got a big bucket of them at Walgreens. I've also seen them in a stick form. They really helped.
