Baldies' Blog began originally in the UK by a 26 year old journalist with a blood cancer on a mission to inform the world about bone marrow donation.

He has since died, and I took on the cause of making cancer care more transparent for everybody.

Cancer is a disease that will touch everybody through diagnosis or affiliation: 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed and 1 in 3 woman will hear those words, "You Have Cancer."

I invite you to read how I feel along my journey and
how I am continuing to live a full life alongside my Hodgkin's lymphoma, with me controlling my cancer, not my cancer controlling me.

I hope that "Baldies' Blog" will prepare you to handle whatever life sends you, but especially if it's the message, "You Have Cancer."

Another DadDate

Hi All
I have added a few more people to the Hillary update list. Hillary is a 27 year old mother of a 7 year old. She has been in treatment for Hodgkin Lymphoma for more than 4 years. Hodgekins is the easiest form of Cancer to Cure at a 90% cure rate. This is the ongoing update.

We got the results of Hillary's PET scan very quickly today. The cancer has doubled in size in 3 months. The cancer is near the nodes on the kidney. It is 3cm x 7cm. It surprised us  but Hillary and the Doc's have been watching the weekly test scores of the kidney and were expecting something like this. She is doing the Photo Pharisees this afternoon again. That has helped her Lung Function so she needs to keep doing that.

Today she was also supposed to reduce her steroids again. We have no idea how that will play into the treatment

We had noticed how forgetful she has been recently. I thought she was just taking after her dad!! We found out that she was using a lot more morphine for pain control. Her kidneys were always giving her pain. She had also been sleeping a lot more and using her oxygen more often. It all makes sense now!!  She knew what she needed to do but would not tell any of us until Jon Nancy and Myself but all the pieces together with the results of the PET scan.

We always need to read between the lines. I don't do that well. Doc G and Hillary agreed  today that they would treat for comfort not for cure. I'm not sure what that means as I don't want to read between those lines.

So this weekend we still will celebrate our successes. We still have to reflect on the positives. Monday it's off to see the specialist at Dana-Farber in Boston. If the Boston Red Sox can win 2 world series this century then The Boston Dana Farber team can create a miracle also.

Please say a few prayers. This new information has hit pretty hard.
Vic, Nancy, Patrick & Grace, Allen, Pierce, Preston , Heather,  Jon, Xander and especially Hillary

I am so sorry , I know what you are feeling and it is terrible trying to read between the lines and scared of what you might learn. I don't your daughter personally but "I know her and her fight and yours" I wish there was something anything I could do but all I can do is send tears and thoughts for you . Your daughter is one remarkable young woman ......please give her my best and a hug from those that also care a great deal for her. Loraine

So sorry to hear the bad news! It has been such a struggle for her and your family and she HAS stood up to cancer bravely and it saddens me deeply to hear that it still wants to bring her down! Hillary is a courageous fighter and if anyone can do it, she can.

Prayers, Prayers, and more Prayers!!
