Baldies' Blog began originally in the UK by a 26 year old journalist with a blood cancer on a mission to inform the world about bone marrow donation.

He has since died, and I took on the cause of making cancer care more transparent for everybody.

Cancer is a disease that will touch everybody through diagnosis or affiliation: 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed and 1 in 3 woman will hear those words, "You Have Cancer."

I invite you to read how I feel along my journey and
how I am continuing to live a full life alongside my Hodgkin's lymphoma, with me controlling my cancer, not my cancer controlling me.

I hope that "Baldies' Blog" will prepare you to handle whatever life sends you, but especially if it's the message, "You Have Cancer."

News From Vic

Hi to all
Another sleepless night with high anticipation for the week.

The good news is that Hillary has her 6 month check up this week. She has a PET scan on Thursday and we should actually see the results.
Did the Bone Marrow transplant work or not???
Thursday is looked at with so much emotion, anticipation, worry and much more. There are not many options left for her "normal treatment resistant Hodgkin's lymphomas". Hillary has already started some alternative medicines in preparation for any bad news.
Hodgkin's disease is normally the easiest form of cancer to cure. We are past the normal treatments. We make 3 trips to Boston this week. She has Graff vs. Host disease. That is a good thing. It means the new cells from the donor are taking over her week cells. The bad news is right now she is in a lot of pain. Her eyes are what is most noticeable now. The new cells are attacking her cornea and tear ducts.
She is amazing. She has got an appointment with one of the best Doctors in the world at Boston Eye and ear hospital on Tuesday. We wait with gut wrenching anticipation that they will tell us that they can stop the deterioration and return back to normal eyesight.Hill continues to do everything possible to get well. She has a web site, that a very smart class mate from college has helped her develop She is able to share her medical records with other doctors around the world. She can bring the eye doctor up to speed with a click of the mouse. That is the big reason she can get to the top dog quickly and see the best doctors in the world..
For the last 3 months she has taken charge of her own treatment protocol in anticipation for bad news in Thursdays PET Scan. Because she has signed for own responsibility the doctors can suggest alternative treatments that they legally couldn't do other wise. You can see and feel what she and we are going through. You would not know how sick she is from her Blog and Writing. Last week NH did put money in the budget under the bill that Hillary had spoken about. I have heard from a lot of people how Hillary's speech at the House and Senate hearings had made an impact. She ended up with pneumonia because she was out in a large crowd but the results made the pain a lot more bearable for her. She has some great meds.
I usually see her in a world win, high flying, energetic, tiger bouncy mood. She has spunk. When the meds starts to wear off she goes home and crashes. I am glad I just see the good. It keeps for a positive outlook. We would appreciate All the prayers and support you can give us for this Holy week. We really hope for a Good Friday and a Happy Easter.http://baldiesblog.blogspot.com/ email--- "Hillary St. Pierre" Vic Nancy, Patrick and Grace, Heather Allen, Pierce and another on the way, Xander Jon and most of all Hillary
