Baldies' Blog began originally in the UK by a 26 year old journalist with a blood cancer on a mission to inform the world about bone marrow donation.

He has since died, and I took on the cause of making cancer care more transparent for everybody.

Cancer is a disease that will touch everybody through diagnosis or affiliation: 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed and 1 in 3 woman will hear those words, "You Have Cancer."

I invite you to read how I feel along my journey and
how I am continuing to live a full life alongside my Hodgkin's lymphoma, with me controlling my cancer, not my cancer controlling me.

I hope that "Baldies' Blog" will prepare you to handle whatever life sends you, but especially if it's the message, "You Have Cancer."

On Behalf of Nurses Everywhere. . .

I’m watching The Omen in bed. I like scary movies.
I’m looking for a movie that scares me more than my life. So far, Michael Moore’s “Sicko” gets the award for scariest.
But wait, that is my life.

Anyway, patients, please, listen up. On behalf of nurses everywhere, I would like to make patients aware that TINY LITTLE AIR BUBBLES in your IV line WILL NOT KILL YOU.
This is a lie. It has stayed alive because of Hollywood and movies like “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and now “The Omen” perpetrate the lie in FAKE scary movies.
Have no fear, it would take at least 500 mls (or half a liter) of air to cause an emboli (an air bubble in your veins) that could kill you.
Do not freak out and watch that little bubble in your line creeping towards you. You will just drive yourself crazy. I promise it will do no harm.

Thank you - I can't tell you how many times a week I have to tell people that...
